Who is Martyr Abramius the Bulgar, and Why Should I Order an Akathist?
Martyr Abramius the Bulgar, the Wonderworker, is one of the thirteen earliest saints of the Russian Orthodox Church!
During his earthly life, he was a wealthy and influential merchant. He lived in Volga Bulgaria at the end of the 12th and the beginning of the 13th century. What set him apart from his contemporaries was his active charity, generous aid to the poor, and a deep yearning for God. Saint Abramius endured martyrdom, proving his steadfast faith in Christ. Even after his passing, for over eight centuries, he continues to help people. He is especially known for quickly aiding sick infants and serving as a patron of trade and commerce, as he himself was a highly successful merchant.
How to Pray for God's Help in Trade and Business?
The Akathist to Martyr Abramius the Bulgar is chosen by Orthodox believers who have embraced entrepreneurship and business as their calling. It is considered a powerful prayer for success in trade. The act of buying and selling is not sinful; rather, like any good endeavor, it requires God's blessing. Saint Abramius dedicated his life to this field, and many who pray to him testify that he is a great and kind helper, a strong intercessor in business and trade matters.

We pray fervently for intercession in trade matters on Tuesdays at 2:30, 8:30, 14:30 or 20:30 Moscow time.
O Holy Martyr Abramius, valiant warrior of Christ the Heavenly King, our glorious helper and defender in sorrows and misfortunes! Nothing could separate thee from thy love for the Lord Jesus: neither flattering promises of temporal blessings, nor threats, nor torments from the enemies of the most holy faith of Christ; Thou, like a lion, went out to battle against the noetic wolves, the spirits of evil, who moved thy fellow Bulgarian people against thee because of thy good confession, and, like a fiery arrow, thou didst strike them down with the power of the grace of the Holy Spirit, and thy love for God, which wast stronger than death. Even though thou didst shed thy blood for Christ our God, having lost thy temporal life, nevertheless with thy immortal soul, like an eagle, thou didst soar to the heavenly abode of our Father, inheriting there eternal life, glory and ineffable blessedness, and leaving us thy incorrupt relics, like a precious and fragrant lily. We believe, holy passion-bearer, that standing with the angels and all the saints before the Throne of Glory of the Triune God, thou dost offer up fervent and God-pleasing prayers not only for us, for this holy house (or monastery) and our city, but also for the entire holy Church of Christ and for the Orthodox Russian land. We believe, O glorious miracle worker, that thou, by the power of the almighty Lord Jesus Christ, through thy holy relics, dost pour out abundant gifts of grace for the salvation of all who come to thee with faith, and especially for the blessed end of those who honor thee with repentance. Thou dost graciously help weak infants, so that all, from the least to the greatest, unanimously glorify the inscrutable greatness of God's goodness. With the same faith and love, falling down before thy holy relics and piously venerating them, we beseech thee, our good intercessor in Heaven, help us sinners and humble ones with thy prayers in all our sorrows and needs, preserve us, this holy house (or monastery) and this city from all evil and misfortune, and above all, assist our eternal salvation and that of all who ask of thee assistance and intercession. Yea, we humbly pray to thee, O saint of God, pray to Christ our God that He may grant peace and prosperity to all Orthodox Christians and that He turn from us all anger that is moved against us, that He may deliver us from the snares of the enemy, the torment of the bonds of sin and the torments of hell, and that He may grant us, the unworthy, to stand at His right hand at His righteous judgment and to enter into the eternal rest of His saints, where there is the unceasing sound of those who keep festival and the unspeakable delight of those that behold the ineffable beauty of His countenance; and thus we will be able with thee and all the saints to glorify the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, the Holy Trinity, of one essence and undivided. Amen.
