I joined you in fervent prayer for peace in Russia and Ukraine with the Akathist before the icon of the Kazan Mother of God—not only for peace there but also for peace here in Europe, in Slovakia. Do you think it’s easy here? No! Since February 24, 2022, our government has turned everything against Russia. All these sanctions are not against Russia—they are against us, ordinary people. In Bratislava, Ukrainian flags are displayed, refugees receive all kinds of assistance—from our taxes—while prices for us have skyrocketed. Some refugees' behavior is beyond words… It doesn’t feel like I’m in Slovakia anymore. I am Slovak, and I love Russia very much. Every evening, I pray to the Mother of God with you. And here’s what happened… I was sitting on a bench in the center of Bratislava, behind me was the American embassy, reading the Akathist to the Mother of God with you. As I was finishing and saying the final prayer, I suddenly heard the Russian anthem. I was filled with such joy! I thought, I’ll finish the Akathist and then look around. When I finished, I saw a young man playing the Russian anthem loudly from his phone—this happened on October 11, 2022. It happened again on October 19 and October 25. Only the Russian anthem—I couldn’t believe it, and I felt such joy… At that time, the city center was empty, no one was walking around… And to hear the Russian anthem here, where the government is doing everything against Russia, where there are many Ukrainian refugees, and right during prayer with the Akathist, and in front of the American embassy—it was a miracle. I believe this was not just a coincidence…
