The Unfading Lamp of the Russian Land—the Lavra of Great Sergius.

Here, in this holy place, the abba and leader of Russian monasticism dedicated himself to the service of the Lord from his earliest years. Every inch of this land has been sanctified by his fervent prayers and is filled with the grace of the Holy Spirit.

It was here that the Mother of God and the holy apostles appeared in person. Here, an innumerable host of known and unknown disciples of St. Sergius of Radonezh lived and prayed. Even now, he invisibly visits this place, interceding for all who come with faith.

Prayer in this sacred Lavra is always united with the great abba Sergius. Together with the assembly of the saints of Radonezh, his intercession strengthens our frail human petitions before the Lord.
